When should my baby roll over?

We are lucky enough to feature a wonderful woman who’s specialty is pediatric physical therapy and rehabilitation.

Meet  Magdalena Oledzka, PT, MBA, PCS, pediatric physical therapist and pediatric rehabilitation section manager at the CA Technologies Rehabilitation Center at Hospital for Special Surgery in New York.

She had provided us with some popular questions moms frequently ask her with her expertise answers. Feel free to post a question for her here. We will make sure they get answered!

When should my child roll over?

Every child is unique and has his or her own timeline. Generally speaking, any time between four and seven months is considered normal. There are also tell-tale signs that a baby is getting ready to roll over. When I get asked this question, I ask if the baby is playing with his or her feet. When they do this, they are strengthening their belly muscles, which means that rolling is on the way. If not, there could be abdominal muscle weakness present that should be discussed with your pediatrician. In this case, you may be referred to a pediatric physical therapist.
