Respecting Her Style
Did you know that letting your daughter explore her own style and her own interests could help her develop a positive sense of stability and can also build her relationship with you?
Your daughter will probably explore different clothing styles, interests, and ways of being as she tries to determine what “fits” her best. While it is appropriate and healthy to provide limits for her choices (ex: saying “no” to provocative clothing), be sure not to impose too much of your own tastes and preferences on the choices she can make for herself. Respecting her unique style, interests, and personality is likely to boost your daughter’s confidence in her own choices and preferences. Eventually, she will find her niche as she develops a sense of her own identity – the trust and respect that you have shown her will likely be appreciated and reciprocated.
