No more online bullying- Safe haven for girls

Online Bullying

Online bullying – let’s put an end to it once and for all.

There is no denying the statistics on bullying and suicide. According to BullyingStatistics.org, there is a strong link between bullying and suicide. 160,000 kids stay at home from school every day because of fear of bullying and bullying victims are  2 to 9 times more likely to consider suicide than non-victims, according to studies by Yale University . A study in Britain found that at least half of suicides among young people are related to bullying and girls between the ages of 10-14 might even be at higher risk for suicide.  With nearly 30 percent of students either bullies or victims of bullying, over half of adolescents and teens have experienced online bullying, and about the same number have engaged in cyber bullying.

cyberbullyingThere have been too many tragedies. Rebecca Ann Sedwick, 12 years old. Seth Walsh, 13 years old. Kameron Jacobson, 14 years old. Amanda Todd, 15 years old. Felicia Garcia, 15 years old.  Aaron Dugmore, 9 years old. Joe Morales, 12 years old. Gregory Spring, 17 years old. Kayla Marie Wright, 16 years old. Amanda Rebecca Cota, 17 years old. Kristina Arielle Calco,  15 years old. Rachel Ehmke 13 years old. Jamey Rodemeyer, 14 years old…and by no means is this list is a complete one as there are many others who were tormented and bullied, seeing suicide as the only way to make it stop. May all these children Rest in Peace and my thoughts and prayers go out to their family members and everyone who knew them.

Miss O girls, Juliette and Isabella, www.misso.com

With so many forms of social media proving as breeding grounds for online bullying, we have made Miss O & Friends the opposite. As moms and parents, I want you to know that there is a safe place for your daughters to go online. Instead of being bullied and made fun of, the Miss O community provides support where girls can talk about their issues, ask questions and get help from girls all over the world. Although we do have a free-typing option, our strict moderation allows for a no-online bullying environment. Anything that is posted to the site by a member, goes into our Admin dashboard, where it is then looked at by an actual member of the Miss O Staff (not a software program) and is approved or disapproved based on the content. Because of our thorough process , there is no online bullying on Miss O and instead girls HELP each other when they write in questions about being bullied.

Stop online bullying for good!
