Wake Up to a Morning Workout

You are in a deep sleep and suddenly the alarm goes off! TRRRING! So, you wake up with a bad mood, hating (literally) everything that spoiled your good ol’ sleep and you hit the snooze button. The bad news is that the way you wake up affects the rest of the day. But, the good thing is that it is never too late to start your mornings with a positive note!

Even if you are not a ‘morning person,’ consider exercising in the morning. Benefits? You wake up better, improve your mood, lose fat, boost your metabolism and are energized for the day ahead! You may find your morning workout so energizing you decide to build it into your schedule year-round. Here are a few morning workout tips.

Enjoy a pre-workout snack:

After a night of sleep, you need a little something (not a full breakfast!) before you exercise. On any Phase, have a low-fat or nonfat plain Greek yogurt (sweetened if you like with an all-natural no-calorie sweetener), a handful of nuts, or even a glass of fat-free or 1% milk , or a South Beach Diet Jumpstarts Carb Control snack bar (new for Phase 1). Any of these will make a big difference in how energetic you feel once you get going. If you’re on Phase 2, you also have the option of all-natural peanut or almond butter on a slice of whole wheat toast along with some sliced apple, or enjoy one of our energizing South Beach Diet Good to Go snack bars.
