How to make feather hair extensions
Any of you lovely ladies been to the mall lately? Or the coffee shop? Or just OUT? Well, if you have, then you’ve probably noticed the latest fashion craze for girls: Hair feather extensions! They’re cute, earthy, and they go with everything! Many stars have been spotted with them, including Miley Cyrus, Ke$ha, Hilary Duff, Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Selena Gomez, Vanessa Hudgens, and many others! Want to try this awesome new look yourself? Well, you can visit your personal hairstylist and ask for them, but they can cost $15 and up per feather. If you want to make your own, I’ll share with you my own step-by-step process to do them yourself! You can pick any feathers you want, it’s way cheaper, and you can do them with friends. Here’s how:
What you need:
Feathers (Pick them up from the local craft store, or order online.)
Hair Extension Links/100 count (Sally Beauty Supply)$ 15.00
Wire (like floral wire)
Comb and clip
1: Decide where you want your flower. The popular place is on the underside of your hair, near your ear. Very cute. 🙂
2: Section off a narrow piece of hair where you want your feather to be.
3: Put link into hair, and slide the feather in with it.
4: Use the pliers to squeeze the link tight and crimp it together. That will hold your feather in place.
5: Rock that style!
While proffesional feathers stay in your hair for up to 2-3 weeks, depending on the types of the feathers you use, home made ones are not as permanent. If you want the ones just like they use in salons, the ones you can wash, flat iron, curl, and style, order them online.
If you just want a temporary fix that you can change every day, and you don’t want to apply heat to them or wash them, any old feather will do. 🙂 So get out there and try the latest fashion trend: Hair feathers!
